Macmillan Cancer Support (Jersey)

What we did

We built Macmillan in Jersey a custom designed WordPress site to replace their old one which used an outdated CMS. They wanted something much brighter and that made great use of the excellent photographs they’d commissioned. The site is more aligned with the main Macmillan UK style and branding but has the fresher/cleaner approach that they wanted.

Their old site had the functionality for fundraisers to create their own sponsorship pages and have their friends and family sponsor them. A bit like a mini JustGiving, although because the tax/Gift Aid rules are different in Jersey it made sense to build their own version so they can capture all the right data. We helped Macmillan Jersey to pioneer a new system that was verified by the tax authorities there, to electronically capture donors’ tax status. This will make it much easier and quicker for charities to claim their equivalent of ‘Gift Aid’. We hope that many more of them on the island will implement the system in the near future.

We brought across some of the existing fundraising pages and made it easier for users to register on the site and create/edit their own pages. We’ve also customised the csv files so that they can easily be imported into their fundraising CRM system.
